Rose Namajunas waltzed her way to a first round KO victory over Zhang Weili recently
Thug Rose had little or no trouble in knocking out Zhang Weili, as she regained her strawweight championship after two years at UFC 261.
Just a minute into the first round, Namajunas executed a brutal leg kick to the head, that sent Weili to the floor, as she stuttered to get back to her feet. She was declared the winner after just 78 seconds.
Thereby, she also became the first woman in UFC history to win the same title on two separate occasions.
And recently, number 1 ranked UFC flyweight Brandon Moreno was the guest in the sixty-second episode of the Schmozone podcast. He was asked by Helen Yee, which has been his favourite knockout of the year so far.
In a jiffy, Moreno replied that it was Rose, and then he went on to explain why her KO was his favourite.
Here is what Moreno had to say:
“Rose, definitely. I don’t know why, but I feel like it’s my own victory. She makes every single person in the crowd feel goosebumps.”
Moreno and Figueiredo put on a fight for the ages at UFC 256.
Figueiredo was defending his flyweight title for the second time in three weeks, against the speedy Mexican.
Both the fighters gave it their all, and in the end the match was declared a draw. The fight was awarded the Fight of the Night.
The pair are all set to rematch at UFC 263, next month on the 12th of June. Both the fighters have never been finished in their long careers, and hence one can hope for a cracker of a contest.
