Mo Money Mo Problems seems to have gotten into the current version of Conor McGregor
McGregor is the richest star in the UFC. No one in the sport of MMA has even come close to his wealth.
The Irishman recently also became the Highest-Paid Athlete for the year 2021, according to Forbes. UFC President Dana White always has a special fight purse for ‘The Notorious’, as he always paid an exorbitant amount for a fight appearance.
However, there is no denying the fact that McGregor has earned it. He absolutely deserves to be paid that big an amount, given the eyeballs he has brought to the sport of MMA.
But, once fat-checks and royalty crept into McGregor’s life, his game died down a bit. Since becoming the double-champ in 2016, McGregor has just fought thrice, and has won just once – against Donald Cerrone.
UFC Flyweight Brandon Moreno addressed this in the recent episode of the Schmozone podcast. He seemed to agree with the fact that McGregor’s game has lost its sheen, probably because of the money.
Moreno said:
“I think everybody is thinking the same with Conor McGregor…He has the most money…He doesn’t want to wake up early in the morning, because everything is easy for him in the sport.”
Despite claiming that money has brought some trouble to McGregor’s game, Moreno had words of praise for ‘The Irishman’s’ talent.
The Mexican called McGregor a real fighter and one of the hungriest in the lightweight division.
Moreno was quoted as saying:
“The talent is there. Conor McGregor is a real fighter. Right now he is training…All these guys are really hungry guys in the lightweight division.”
McGregor is currently gearing up for his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 on the 10th of July.
