Brian Ortega suffered some nasty injuries at the recently concluded UFC 266
Brian Ortega faced off against Alexander Volkanovski in a war for the ages. The two coaches at the recently concluded ‘The Return of the Ultimate Fighter’ put on a ‘Fight of the Year’ performance in the main event of UFC 266.
The fight saw both the fighters go hammer and tongs before a wild third round of unimaginable proportions took place.
Ortega threw everything he had at Volkanovski, kitchen sink included. A clean guillotine – Volk somehow got out. A clean triangle – Volkanovski once again got out.
Both these chokes from Ortega were perfectly executed and were tight, yet the champ weathered the storm.
Once Volkanovski got out of danger, he poleaxed a grounded and exhausted Ortega, smashing his face, nearly blinding him.
Ortega gasped for breath when the round ended, and had to be lifted. He could barely see with his right eye as well.
In the end, it was Volkanovski who ended up winning – unanimous decision. Ortega was hailed for his heart of a champion.
