Bruce Buffer is called as the Voice of the Octagon and has trained in MMA but he also held a swimming record that not many know about
There are some things that just bring out the UFC fan within a person. One has to be the UFC theme music before the fights, the other is the commentary team of the UFC and the third in all probability is Bruce Buffer.
The Voice of the Octagon, as he is called, has been with the UFC right from the start. He has seen its ups and downs but is now possibly one of the biggest names in sports.
Buffer also trains regularly in MMA but there is more about the silver streaked star. He was speaking to Helen Yee, who is preparing for a shot in the US swimming team, and she also brought up the history of Buffer.
“When I was a kid, when I was 12, I held a breaststroke record in Philadelphia.”
However, that changed when he shifted to Malibu from Philadelphia and got interested in water polo while playing football.
Buffer not only held a record during his younger days but was a top water polo player. However, things didn’t go his way and he shared a hilarious reason why he had to give up the sport.
“I got into water polo and almost became the most valuable player one year but I had a problem. I scored more goals than every body but I also got kicked out of more games than anybody because I had a tendency to throw elbows and do all that.
“I was a little rough in the sport.”
This also allowed him to be on the swim team, naturally and he was also part of the relay team.
Bruce and his half brother, Michael, are two of the most well-known sports announcers in the world. They have set up their own management team and have licensed a lot of problems and also appeared in games.
However, Bruce confirmed that there was another project in the pipeline. Later in February, his cologne called ‘It’s Time’ will be available across the world.
This is also his favourite saying before the fights, and Bruce added that he has a lot of toiletries also set up for this brand.
The Buffer brothers are having a great time outside the sports business too, and they are one of the best success stories to have come out from boxing and MMA, without having had to fight.
