Bryce Mitchell will rock his UFC camo shorts this weekend but was ready to fight for the right to wear em
Undefeated UFC star Bryce Mitchell has opened up on finally getting a chance to wear his camo shorts ahead of his next fight.
The UFC star and Dana White both posted an image of special trunks that Reebok had sanctioned for him. UFC stars don’t have a lot of scope for customised attire in the Octagon, but this was a positive step for the fighters.
Reebok will be replaced by Venum soon after the UFC signed a deal. However, Mitchell was ready to fight against a ton of people to wear his shorts.
The 26-year-old was speaking ahead of his fight against Andre Fili and thought the UFC wouldn’t allow him to wear his shorts:
“I was dead serious, I always wanted camo shorts. I was 100% going to wear em and I figured they weren’t going to let me so I had to wear em illegally.
“You know, I had this whole thing envisioned inside of my head. I was going to walk out to the fight and they were going to check me in the ring.”
Mitchell continued and went on to say that he was willing to fight the security guards in the red vests and expected a proper brawl in the Octagon:
“And I was going to “boom” take off my sweatpants and there was going to be camo shorts in there, and I was going to run into the cage and there was going to be security guards trying to put me out of the cage.
“Then I was going to fight the security guards in the red vest. I figured if I got the first hit on one of the dudes I could drop one of them. The other one would be putting up a good fight.
“I was hoping my cornerman would jump in because there probably would be about three more red suit dudes coming in.”
The 26-year-old, however, was happy that things didn’t go down this route and even believed he would have been fired if he went fighting against the guards:
“It would be kind of a little brawl going on. That is what I was expecting was going to happen and I am really glad that didn’t have to happen.
“I am really happy they gave the camo shorts legally else they would probably sue me or they definitely would have fired me and I am really glad that didn’t happen.”
It will be interesting to see how things work out for Mitchell in the Octagon on Saturday. Fili isn’t an easy opponent but a win should send Mitchell up the UFC rankings.
He is 15th in the Featherweight division and currently has a record of 13 wins and no losses.
