Cain Velasquez was charged with 1st degree attempted murder last month after a shooting incident on February 28 in San Jose California
A man was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries that were non-life-threatening. According to the court documents Velasquez is facing charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting an occupied motor vehicle, and more.
The man that Velasquez targeted was allegedly arrested for committing acts of sexual abuse on a child at a daycare. The child was one of Velasquez’s younger relatives.
However, Velasquez missed the man and instead hit the accused offender’s father-in-law. The MMA star was denied bail on March 7. Many of his fans and well-wishers turned up outside the court wearing t-shirts with ‘Free Cain’ written on them. Many of Cain’s MMA colleagues came out in support of him like Ronda Rousey and Khabib Nurmagomedov to name a few.

Cain Velasquez released a statement on his Twitter account where he thanked everyone who stood beside him in his “darkest times”.
The 39-year-old posted a detailed statement and mentioned that the story is “complex” and also promised that he will never stop loving his community and everyone else.
“To everyone that has expressed your support, my family and I will never be able to thank you enough,” Velasquez said. “From the bottom of our hearts and the depths of our souls, we are forever grateful for your love. Your selfless gestures and kind words have given me strength in my darkest times. This story is complex and slowly unraveling as we speak.“
“To the true victims of this case, may God give you the strength to come forward. Though it is most difficult to relive the pain that has happened to you, in speaking the truth, justice will be served and your own true healing will start. I will never stop helping or loving my community and all of you. Thank you for loving me.”
Cain wrestled a match against the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar in WWE. The match was at WWE Crown Jewel 2019. It was for Lesnar’s WWE Championship. Cain lost the match in less than two minutes and was later released by the company.
