Jamahal Hill is set to face Paul Craig in a light-heavyweight bout in the main card of UFC 263
If there is an up and coming light-heavyweight that one’s got to lookout for, it has to be Jamahal ‘Sweet Dreams’ Hill.
Hill made his MMA debut in 2017, when he was 26 years old. Quite late for an MMA athlete. The delay was due to his initial interest in a Basketball career.
He started out with Knockout Promotions, an MMA promotion based in Michigan. In just 9 months he was already 4-0 up in his MMA career. He then moved to Lights Out Championship making only one appearance.
Hill then entered the UFC via. Dana White’s Contender Series. Having defeated Alexander Poppeck at Dana White’s Contender Series 21, Hill made his UFC debut in January 2020 against Darko Stosic. He beat the Serb via. unanimous decision.
He then followed it up with a victory over Klidson Abreu which was overturned after Hill tested positive for marijuana.
He put his no-contest fight behind, after a stunning victory over the experienced Ovince Saint Preux in December 2020. That fight earned Hill, comparisons with light-heavyweight GOAT Jon Jones.
Can Jamahal Hill emulate Jon Jones?
Hill is still unbeaten in his MMA career. After his win over Saint Preux, a lot of fans took to Twitter to claim that Hill looked like a younger version of Jon Jones.
In fact, Jones himself was impressed with Hill’s performance against OSP. He also lauded Hill’s fighting style, which he felt was more boxing based.
Hill has already broken into the top 15 of the light-heavyweight rankings. Only a few more wins, before the MMA world begins taking him seriously.
First things first, ‘Sweet Dreams’ will be looking forward to handing Paul Craig nightmares, come this weekend.
