Julianna Pena took a shot at Ronda Rousey over her exit from MMA
Casey O’Neill came to the defence of former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey. Julianna Pena, the current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion appeared on The MMA Hour and blasted Rowdy.
Pena questioned Rousey’s exit from the MMA world as she left with two losses. The current champ also wasn’t impressed with Rowdy going to the wrestling world and called her a “joke.”
The other terms she used for Rousey included “sellout” but O’Neill took offence to all of this. The 24-year-old slammed Pena on social media and called Rousey a “trailblazer” for all that she had done for females.
O’Neill is currently 9-0 in her MMA career and has done a great job in the UFC. She also plays the role of a villain in the promotion and it will be interesting to see how she does in the coming years.
Rousey was possibly the reason why women’s MMA has grown so much in the UFC. She was the first female champion in the UFC and the inaugural Bantamweight champion.
Rousey opened the doors for many, and even though she left with two huge losses to her name, no one should question all that she did for female athletes.
Rowdy went on to star in WWE and become a champion before she left in 2019. She started a family and now is back in the business in 2022.
She fought Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s title at WrestleMania 38. However, she was defeated by The Queen via pinfall.
Rousey seems to be enjoying her time in WWE, and it is unlikely she will return to the MMA world. However, Rousey remains the biggest female name to have ever graced the UFC.
