[WARNING: Graphic Photos] Grotesque scenes as CFFC fighter loses finger in the middle of a fight
Canadian fighter, Khetag Pliev, literally lost his finger in a CFFC 94 fight on April Fool’s Day as the fight had to stopped mid-way.
There have been some serious injuries to fighters inside MMA cages, many of them more serious than a lost finger.
But nothing can send a shiver down anyone’s spine quite like the sight of a missing finger. And that is what happened, as fans were left shocked seeing Pliev without his left ring finger.
The incident happened during the fight and Pliev did not immediately notice it. He took a note of the situation only in-between rounds.
Then began the search for the missing finger, which was said to be somewhere inside the venue as it was believed to have detached itself and dropped inside his glove.
Pliev was handed just the second loss in his seven-fight long career as Devin Goodale was declared winner by TKO.
The catchweight contest was contested at 175 lbs. and the fight had to be called off in the second round 2 due to the gruesome injury.
Aaron Bonesetter of TSN Sports was there with the early details of the incident as he mentioned a PA announcement in the arena about Pliev’s missing finger.
“They just made a PA announcement at #CFFC94 that they are trying to locate a fighter’s missing finger. It evidently fell off into his glove during the bout and is missing somewhere in the venue.”
He then added an update that the finger was found inside the glove itself. The Toronto-based fighter was then transported to a hospital to have the finger re-attached.
An update was then posted on Pliev’s behalf showing that his finger was successfully re-attached via surgery.
