Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones have had a heated rivalry but Chael Sonnen believes another fight could be the big one
The UFC has some cracking stars on their roster and one big fight that many want to see is Israel Adesanya vs Jon Jones.
The pair have been bickering for a few months and have held championships across divisions. A major problem between them is the fact that both fight in different divisions.
Jones vacated his Light Heavyweight title to go up to the Heavyweight one for a shot at gold. Adesanya, the current Middleweight champion, decided to move up to the Light Heavyweight one and challenge Jan Blachowicz for the gold.
The pair could meet up in the Light Heavyweight division but Chael Sonnen believes another fight could be the one that gets people talking.
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Georges St-Pierre is another fight that a lot of people have spoken about. Sonnen revealed that GSP had been training still, despite no actual fight on the roster, and that could mean something.
The UFC legend also highlighted that GSP is training twice a day and even goes on a fast at the start of every month.
Khabib, for his part, retired after UFC 254. However, Dana White hasn’t stripped him of the title and believes the Russian could be coaxed back.
Khabib is undefeated in his career and many believe GSP is the greatest ever, and Sonnen wants this to be the fight:
“That is the fight. That is the fight.
“I have used a term of late, ‘The biggest fight the industry could make’. And I am right on that but the biggest fight the industry could make, right this second, is Israel Adesanya vs Jon Jones.
“I would have to take that back if you could get Khabib vs Georges St-Pierre.”
The lure of going 30-0 for Khabib could be great and that could see him come back. GSP, for his part, has returned from retirement in the past and a special super fight with the Russian could be the blockbuster event that sees another return.
GSP vs Khabib could be something great and it will be interesting to see if this ever takes place.
