Chael Sonnen explains why current Francis Ngannou is the same as prime Mike Tyson

Francis Ngannou is seeking a fight against Stipe Miocic but he is as scary as Mike Tyson

Chael Sonnen brought up a peculiar situation for Francis Ngannou. The Cameroon-French star is expected to face Stipe Miocic for the Heavyweight UFC title.

However, nothing has been set in stone. Miocic hasn’t opened up on when he will return after defeating Daniel Cormier to keep his title.

The champion needed some time off to deal with a few issues but Sonnen believed that the pair could fight in March or April 2021.

That is a bit of an issue since Ngannou spoke out about not knowing what to do. Should he train? When should he train? Will he be fighting for the title or not?

While Sonnen compared this to the situation of another MMA star from the past, he also brought up how dangerous Ngannou is.

While Ngannou lost a chance to the UFC title to Miocic a few years back, Sonnen believed the challenger is the scariest man in the business:

“You can talk about who the best fighter is, the toughest fighter, you can have all these fun conversations.

“The scariest fighter is Francis, there is no conversation and not one of your disagrees with me.”

Ngannou is Tyson

Mike Tyson was the “baddest man on the planet” during his best days. Iron Mike can still out crowds and many consider him to be the greatest boxer ever.

Sonnen compared Tyson to Ngannou and also brought up that Dana White had to be responsible with some of his bookings:

“The actual fear factor, who is going to get hurt tonight? Scariest guy is Francis. Just like when Mike Tyson used to fight but Dana is not going to be the scumbag that Don King was and just throw anybody in there to create a highlight reel.

“Dana is going to do his job and book him responsibly, be patient.”

The suggestion is that Ngannou has to wait a bit before getting Miocic. It would make no sense for Ngannou to face a random star and it will be interesting to see when he does end up facing the champion.

There is no scarier MMA star in the UFC barring Ngannou, and he could end up becoming the champion soon.
