Michael Chandler can become the lightweight champion at UFC 262
Chandler will be taking on Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight belt in the main event of UFC 262. The explosive American might go on to become the champion in just his second fight in the UFC, if he beats the Brazilian.
Chandler, the Bellator legend, made a switch to the UFC in October 2020. He took on Dan Hooker in his UFC debut at UFC 257. ‘Iron Mike’ made quick work of the Kiwi, winning via 1st round knockout.
The win saw Chandler propel into the top 5 of the lightweight rankings, eventually earning him a title shot.
Oliveira, on the other hand, is coming off a dominating victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 256. The Brazilian is known for his superior ground game, and his 8 fight win streak is something Chandler must be wary of.
Contrasting fighting styles, might go either way!
Former UFC Fighter and current analyst Chael Sonnen gave his prediction for the fight on his YouTube channel. Uncle Chael picked Chandler to come up trumps with the lightweight belt.
Here is what he had to say:
“I am taking Chandler. This isn’t going to be a close fight…If Chandler comes out and he takes charge, it is going to be very hard to stop him. And that’s what I am banking on. I believe Chandler is going to come out and he is going to take charge. Chandler is extremely powerful, people forget that!”
Just like every other MMA expert, Chael Sonnen too, gives out his predictions regularly. But Uncle Chael gets his predictions right once in a blue moon.
The fighter he picks to win, always ends up losing. Usman has been the one who has time and again defied the ‘Chael Curse’.
‘The Chael Curse’ became so popular that, Sonnen himself addressed it in his video where he gave the prediction for Miocic vs Ngannou, which was wrong as well.
Chandler will be hoping to get his hands on the lightweight title, come this Saturday, and make Bellator and Uncle Chael proud.
