UFC Lightweight Charles Oliveira was left in awe after John Lineker delivered a stunning KO against Troy Worthen at ONE on TNT 3.
Lineker, the former UFC bantamweight who was a part of the UFC for 7 years, moved to the ONE championship in 2019. He’s since, competed in 3 fights, and has won all three.
Yesterday, at ONE on TNT 3 he faced Troy Worthen, an American with a strong Brazilian Jiu-jitsu background. Worthen had stepped in since Lineker’s original opponent Stephen Loman tested positive for COVID-19.
In only the first round Lineker knocked Worthen out cold with a massive right hook, before following it up with a hammer fist. The knockout went pretty viral, and Ariel Helwani of ESPN MMA point out the fact that Lineker has still got it.
He tweeted:
That’s when UFC Lightweight Charles Oliveira chimed in calling Lineker a savage.
Lineker had a brilliant run in the UFC. Despite never winning the title, Lineker faced quite a few top ranked fighters in the game. It is also to be noted that he has never been finished in his long career.
Charles Oliveira is just one win away from elite status. He will be taking on UFC newcomer Michael Chandler on the 15th of May at UFC 262, for the vacant lightweight championship.
The Brazilian is on a massive eight-fight win streak, with his last loss coming almost four years ago in 2017.
His last fight against Tony Ferguson showed how good Do Bronx’s ground game is. He dominated Ferguson to a point where people began calling ‘El Cucuy’ that he was washed and finished.
However, in his path stands an explosive Chandler who had an unbelievable debut against Dan Hooker, despite starting out as the underdog. ‘Iron Mike’ knocked out top ranked Hooker in the very first round, proving that Bellator MMA is no joke.
History beckons for Oliveira.
