Charles Oliveira thanked Brazil and PSG attacker Neymar Jr. for his support
Charles Oliveira put on a stunning show at UFC 269. Taking on Dustin Poirier (his first lightweight title defense) in the main event, Oliveira brought the heat despite getting off to a slow start.
After tiring out Poirier in the second round, the Brazilian got the job done in the third round by submission (rear-naked choke).
Oliveira is certainly an impressive comeback story. After having been a part of the UFC for more than 11 years, he finally has the spotlight shining on him.
More recently, he shared a picture alongside arguably the most popular Brazilian right now – Neymar Jr. of Paris Saint-Germain FC.
Posing with his lightweight belt alongside the footballer, Oliveira also thanked him for his support.
He captioned the post:
“Thank you my friend for all the affection and cheering. God always bless you and lighten. Let’s go with everything always towards the top @Neymar Jr.”
Charles Oliveira open to fighting Conor McGregor
Conor McGregor might be placed way below the top 5 in the lightweight rankings, but that does not bother or stop Oliveira from wanting to fight him.
In a recent interview with Sherdog, the Brazilian said:
“May would be a wonderful date. Conor challenged me asking a date, and tweeted Ireland vs. Brazil 2. Not only him, but also myself and all the world wants to see that fight. So let’s make it happen. I’m waiting for him in May. It may be in welterweight, lightweight or middleweight, with my title on the line or not. Just choose and I’ll be ready.”[via The Mac Life]
