Charles Oliveira has given his prediction for his upcoming title fight against Dustin Poirier
Charles Oliveira is now the man to beat in the lightweight division. The Brazilian won the coveted lightweight championship, previously held by the great Khabib Nurmagomedov, after he beat Michael Chandler at UFC 262.
His next opponent, Dustin Poirier, on the other hand, would have fought Oliveira for the title at UFC 262, had he not agreed to a trilogy fight against Conor McGregor at UFC 264.
Now that he has beaten, McGregor at UFC 264, only Oliveira stands between him and the lightweight title.
More recently, Oliveira spoke to MMA Fighting and shared his prediction for his upcoming title fight against Poirier.
The Brazilian claimed that he would submit Poirier, after destructing ‘The Diamond’ with the firepower in his hands.
Here is what ‘Do Bronx’ had to say:
“I believe the firepower in my hands, but I think in a fight against Dustin, I believe I can submit him. Working with my hands, with my strikes, I would definitely cause a lot of damage and then submit him.” [via MMA Fighting]
UFC lightweight GOAT, Khabib Nurmagomedov believes that Dustin Poirier, would become the lightweight champion by next year.
In a recent interview with RT Sport, The Russian stated that ‘The Diamond’ had all the capabilities of becoming the champ.
“I don’t think he’ll be champion when Islam rises to that level. It’s important that Oliveira doesn’t misinterpret my words. I respect him. I just think when Islam goes up the rankings after a year there’ll be another champion. I think it will be Dustin Poirier.” [via RT Sport YouTube]
