Charles Oliveira is often seen wearing glasses outside of the Octagon
Charles Oliveira is one of the best talents on the UFC roster. The Brazilian is the current UFC Lightweight Champion and has picked up some impressive wins over the years.
Oliveira is known for his submissions, but there is another aspect that fans have kept an eye on. The Brazilian is often seen wearing classes outside of the Octagon, and he finally opened up on how good or bad his vision is.
Speaking on Brazilian MMA Legends (h/t Sun), Oliveira claimed he could see three fighters without his glasses.
He also opened up how he ensures that he doesn’t miss his opponents:
“So I see three.
“If I’m hitting the middle one, it’s all right. I think, ‘Keep this same technique.’
“Three guys for me is perfect. If I’m hitting the middle on it’s all right.”
Oliveira also had another shocking revelation to make. He claimed he only saw 50% without his glasses:
“If I take off my glasses, I can only see [at about] 50 per cent. But it never hindered me in the fight.
“It never hindered me in the fight.
“Sometimes I walk in without the glasses, sometimes I walk in with the glasses. It depends on my vibe.”
Oliveira ended by saying that he is a man of faith and that God “blesses” him so that he can see normally in the Octagon. It is a different story outside of it as he claims he is blind without his glasses.
What is next for Charles Oliveira?
While Oliveira might thank God for his incredible performances in the Octagon, it is incredible how he has performed at such a top-level with such poor vision.
Any normal person would struggle in MMA without proper vision, but the Brazilian might have another big fight under his belt.
Conor McGregor has called out Oliveira after the Brazilian beat Dustin Poirier at UFC 269. That would be a huge fight for the division as it sees possibly the biggest star in the world take on Do Bronx.
McGregor himself is nursing a leg injury he picked up in his last loss to Dustin Poirier. The Irishman is expected to make a return sometime in 2022 and it will be interesting to see who he faces next.
