AEW Star Chris Jericho didn’t hold back as he blatantly criticized the performance of Conor McGregor at UFC 264
Conor McGregor suffered a devastating but unexpected loss at UFC 264. The Irishman’s ankle broke at the end of the first round during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.
Seeing that he wouldn’t be able to continue, the fight was waved off and awarded to Poirier.
Despite looking strong for the first two minutes of the fight, McGregor began struggling once the fight went to the ground. He was pummeled by a flurry of elbows and ground strikes from ‘The Diamond’.
Many claimed after the fight that McGregor would have lost the fight had the fight gone to the second round.
AEW Star Chris Jericho reflected upon the same in an interview with Keepin’ It Official. He made a bold and honest claim that McGregor was clearly done, and even the Irishman would be aware of that.
Jericho then went on to say how the fight would have been finished in the second round, given the way McGregor was being dominated in the first round.
‘Y2J’ was quoted as saying:
“Conor’s done and I think everyone knows it. I think he knows it. And, I think the best thing that could’ve happened is that he snapped his ankle, because he would’ve lost in the second round. Herb Dean almost called it at the end of the first, but he was letting it go because it was towards the end and it’s a championship, million-dollar fight. Or not even a championship but it is a million-dollar fight. Those elbows in the corner man, once you get a guy down like that he’s finished.”
Jake Paul gifts Dustin Poirier the ‘Sleepy Conor McGregor’ chain
Following Poirier’s win, YouTube star and professional boxer Jake Paul claimed that he would be gifting ‘The Diamond’ a chain with ‘Sleepy Conor McGregor’ pendant.
The chain worth $100,000 was recently gifted to Poirier, after Paul confirmed the same on Twitter.
He also had a note for Poirier and his wife Jolie, which read:
“Dear Dustin, Congrats on your much-earned victory. I love what you are doing with your good fight foundation. You deserve this chain more than me. Good always defeats evil. Keep winning – Love Jake. P.S – Tell Jolie I said Hi – She’s a badass!”
