Chris Weidman suffered a nasty leg injury at UFC 261
Weidman’s hopes of another middleweight title run were shattered when he faced Uriah Hall at UFC 261. Had he been knocked out by Hall, he would have taken it on the chin.
But, his own leg kick ended up resulting in a grave injury, just 17 seconds into the fight. Weidman’s right leg was shattered after Hall checked ‘The All American’s leg kick.
Holding on to his leg, Weidman wailed in pain, even as the officials and cage-side doctors rushed to his aid.
The fight was waved off and awarded to Hall, and Weidman was rushed to the hospital and operated the next day.
Since then Weidman has been documenting his recovery on various social media platforms. But there was a point when Weidman claimed that he was scared of losing sensation in his entire right leg, adding that he might never be the same again.
However, in the latest episode of Michael Bisping’s Believe You Me podcast, Weidman detailed his experiences of getting back to the gym. He revealed that it was an amazing feeling, while also stating that he couldn’t believe he was able to get back that quickly.
Chris Weidman is beyond chuffed as he shares a major update
More recently, today; in a major update, Weidman posted a video on Twitter where he can be seen sparring with a training partner.
An overjoyed Weidman tweeted:
“2 days ago less than 7 weeks from injury I got bored and drove to the gym lol. Didn’t expect to be able to do this. Felt Amazing!”
Hope Weidman does an Anderson Silva and returns to the Octagon soon.
