Chris Weidman fears that he might have to undergo leg amputation if his leg doesn’t improve in a chilling Instagram video

Weidman suffered a horrific injury at UFC 261 against Uriah Hall. Just 17 seconds into the fight his leg snapped as he executed a clean leg kick with maximum force.

Weidman landed on the canvas, even as his foot hung like rubber. The All American then grimaced in pain, as the officials surrounded him.

The fight was awarded to Hall and Weidman was immediately stretchered off, and underwent surgery next day.

Weidman has been posting regular updates on Instagram since undergoing surgery.

In a recent video, he posted on Instagram via. IGTV, he feared that the worst-case scenario might even mean getting his leg amputated, as he also revealed that this surgery has been pretty brutal on him.

Weidman claimed that he had faced a similar situation already. It was after his fight against Kelvin Gastelum, when he had severely damaged his thumb.

Since the blood supply wasn’t coming back to his thumb even after the surgery, the doctors had replaced his entire thumb bone with the hip bone of his, to prevent it from dying.

And now, Weidman worries the same might happen in this case as well. He revealed that he feared leg amputation because nothing can be done if the blood supply isn’t restored to an important bone like the shin bone.

Weidman said:

He then went on to explain why he feared the worst:

“But that’s just a possibility. I’ve spoken to a doctor about it. Tibias have the worst percentages of taking and healing properly after surgery. It’s not a bad percentage, it’s like five per cent. So that’s scary.” [via Express.co.uk]

Chris Weidman details the immediate aftermath of his UFC 261 injury

Chris Weidman caught up with Ariel Helwani despite being unwell.

The All American detailed what happened, once he found that something was wrong with his foot after landing the leg kick on Uriah Hall.

Weidman revealed that he was shocked when he looked at his broken leg for the first time after landing on the canvas.

Weidman was quoted as saying:

“I put my head down, and I just took a bunch of moments, and I just was (thinking) first, I cannot believe that was my leg. There’s no way that was my leg. Like, what the hell?”

Hope the All American recovers soon!
