Few years ago Ciryl Gane and Francis Ngannou were sparring partners at the MMA Factory

Ciryl Gane put on a clinical performance against Alexander Volkov as he outstruck the Russian to win the main event fight via. unanimous decision. He scored 50-45, 50-45, 49-46 on the three judges’ scorecards.

With that win, Gane cemented his position as the number 3 ranked heavyweight contender. Only Derrick Lewis, former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and the champion Francis Ngannou are above him.

The Frenchman has had a meteoric rise since making his debut hardly 2 years ago. Gane is currently 6-0 in the UFC, with notable wins over Junior dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Volkov recently.

At the post-fight presser, Gane was asked if he felt the need to have another fight before challenging for the HW title.

‘Bon Gamin’ replied that he had already done more than enough to deserve a title shot, and that he was eying for heavyweight gold next.

“No, I think today I proved it. I don’t need another fight for the title shot. I think this guy Volkov was a really great challenge for me to prove it, and I proved it. I did it. So, tomorrow if the UFC wants to match me for the title shot, I’m ready.”
