‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor has been very supportive of Claressa Shields
Claressa Shields is already one of the greatest female boxers of all time. She is just 26 years old. Having become the only boxer in history to hold all four major titles in boxing, simultaneously in two weight classes.
She has a record of 11 wins and zero losses in her professional boxing career, with her last victory against Marie-Eve Dicaire, earlier this year, pushing her to superstardom.
Now, she is all set to make her foray into the world of MMA. She is set to make her MMA debut in PFL (Professional Fighters League) against Brittney Elkin at PFL 4 on the 10th of June.
Shields spoke about the support she has been receiving from the bigwigs of MMA, like Jon Jones and Conor McGregor, in an interview with TheMacLife.
Shields revealed that she felt great receiving support from one of the greats of MMA:
“It feels great, I’m super excited that he’s excited about me fighting. I’m happy that everybody is respecting my work ethic… It is just great to have another great, reach out to you, who has been great in the sport of MMA.”
With Shields set to take on Elkin on the 10th of June, this year, pre-fight hype and trash-talks have already begun.
Elkin had recently stated that she would destroy Shields in just 15 seconds. Those comments didn’t sit well with Shields, as she responded to her claims in an interview with DAZN.
Shields said:
“I saw an interview where Brittney Elkin said she wants to make me a 15-second highlight reel. Like she wants to go in there and knock me out in 15 seconds. And, I was just thinking to myself, ‘B—, in your dreams. In your wildest dreams.” [via DAZN]
Shields will be looking forward to carrying her success from boxing to the sport of MMA as well, come the 10th of June.
