Claressa Shields is training at Jackson Wink MMA Academy with UFC legend Jon Jones

Superstar boxer Claressa Shields decided to venture into MMA last year. The WBA, WBC, and IBF world middleweight boxing champion signed a contract with Professional Fighters League back in 2020.

And in the past few weeks, she has been training with the elites at the Jackson Wink MMA Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

JW houses some of the greatest names in MMA such as former UFC lightweight champion, Jon Jones. And it is with ‘Bones’ that Shields is the closest.

The two have also been training together, and Shields revealed what it was like training with a legend like ‘Bones’.

The 2012 Olympic gold medallist was with Joe Rogan on the latest episode of PowerfulJRE. And she explained how she thinks Jones is her ‘twin’.

“I trained with him for about a good 2 or 3 weeks and Jonny Bones did the first week like watching, kind of scoping a little bit, and we just figured out that we were twins and that was the best thing ever because he’s a hard worker, he’s smart, he’s strategic and we believe in hard work.

“And he started drilling me… the coaches would just sit on the side and just watch us for 3 to 4 hours and they would see like, I am full of energy.”

It is definitely a big year ahead for both of them. Shields is expected to make her MMA debut in PFL.

Bones, on the other hand, is primed to take on the big boys in the UFC as he prepares for his UFC heavyweight debut.

He is most likely to fight straight for the title against the winner of Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou 2 at UFC 260.

The former light heavyweight champion has been regularly updating his fans about how he is beefing up for a fight this year and there seems to be a general consensus that he will do well at 265.
