CM Punk had words of praise for UFC women’s bantamweight champion Julianna Pena
On the 11th of December, 2021 Julianna Pena produced one of the biggest upsets in mixed martial arts history. She defeated the indomitable Amanda Nunes in the co-main event of UFC 269 to become the UFC women’s bantamweight champion.
Nunes hadn’t lost since September 2014 and was on a hot 12-fight winning streak. Not many gave Pena a chance in her fight against Nunes. A majority of the MMA community predicted a routine win for ‘The Lioness.’
However, Pena did exactly what she said she was going to do – walk through fire.
Elsewhere, AEW Star CM Punk lauded Pena for becoming the bantamweight champion by pulling off one of the biggest upsets in MMA history.
In a recent interview with Helen Yee, Punk said:
“I love watching the ladies fight – Julianna Pena, she is residing in Chicago now, I’ve gotta give a big shoutout to her. Possibly the biggest underdog win in mixed martial arts history – beating the GOAT Amanda Nunes.”
Belal Muhammad thanks CM Punk for his support
In the same interview with Helen Yee, CM Punk had words of praise for his good friend Belal Muhammad.
Speaking about his recent surge in the welterweight division, Punk said:
“I love watching Belal Muhammad fight. Actually, it’s not true, I hate watching Belal fight because he’s a buddy of mine – so, it’s nerve-racking. I love watching him win, I think he’s on an incredible tear, and he’s maximizing the time that he has. He’s using his social media – 100% the right way.”
