Former WWE Superstar CM Punk’s UFC 225 loss overturned

WWE veteran CM Punk had a tumultuous career in the UFC

At the ripe old age of 37, CM Punk made his switch to the UFC after being a WWE Wrestler for a large part of his life.

He took on Mickey Gall in a highly anticipated match at UFC 203 on the 10th of September in 2016. Just three minutes into the round Punk lost the fight via. submission due to a rear-naked choke.

Experts pointed out a lot of holes in Punk’s game. However, he returned to the promotion after two years at UFC 225. This time he took on Mike Jackson.

Punk was thoroughly dominated throughout the fight. The only positive on Punk’s side was, he didn’t get finished. However, he ended up losing the fight via. unanimous decision.

Punk was released from the UFC following that fight. He had a dismal 0-2 record.

The latest development is that Punk’s loss to Jackson has been overturned and deemed as a no-contest. The reason for the same is the fact that Jackson tested positive for marijuana.

Where is CM Punk now?

Following his release from the UFC, Punk joined Cage Fury Fighting Championships as a commentator. It is an affiliate of the UFC.

Punk also made a backstage appearance in the WWE in 2020, in the series WWE Backstage by Fox Sports. However, it was stopped due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Although rumors of Punk making a return to the WWE are always present, Punk himself hasn’t teased anything significant.
