Javier Mendez is now teaching Khabib Nurmagomedov how to be a coach
Khabib Nurmagomedov has found a new role in MMA, that of a coach. The Russian retired from the UFC recently with a 29-0 record and his coaching record is pretty good too.
Khabib is 4-0 in 2021 and has helped stars such as Islam Makhachev, Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Usman Nurmagomedov to wins.
He was also seen on Bellator recently for Usman’s debut in the promotion and he seems to be enjoying this role a lot.
Javier Mendez used to coach Khabib when the Eagle was fighting in the UFC. However, Mendez seems to be teaching Khabib a thing or two.
Mendez had spoken in the past about Khabib not letting him say anything near the Octagon. This was during Islam’s win over Drew Dober, but it seems Khabib is now giving his coach time to give out instructions too.
“Last time Khabib coached, he didn’t let me talk, let my words in whenever I could and he rectified and he goes ‘Oh coach, so sorry, I will take care of it in the next one.’”
Mendez added that Khabib was now working well with him and made one big prediction as he believed that the Russian could become one of the best MMA coaches ever:
“He loves coaching, so who knows? Maybe he will be a businessman and a coach because I think he will be one of the greatest coaches out there also.
“Let’s see what is in store for him but one thing is for sure, Team Eagle is on the rise, Team AKA is on the rise.”
Khabib does have a lot of people he can coach at the moment. He is also doing a lot of training, even though he isn’t fighting.
Khabib also spoke about how he was cutting weight, like the rest of the team, for Abubakar’s most recent fight.
Khabib will go down as one of the greatest ever in the MMA octagon. He is doing a great job coaching and he could go down as one of the best coach ever.
The Eagle has a lot of knowledge and experience to part with, and it is great to see him part with some of it.
