“He’s washed up” – Colby Covington laughs off Conor McGregor’s demand of a UFC belt

Conor McGregor asked UFC for a special UFC belt

Earlier this week, Conor McGregor demanded UFC to make a new, special, UFC belt just for him.

This ‘Connor McGregor belt would have ‘rose gold and rubies’, according to him. And he said that no matter what the division is, he is always fighting for that belt.

Now whether it was a joke or not, UFC have come out with a special belt before. The symbolic ‘BMF’ belt was made especially for the UFC 244 bout between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz

Diaz was expectedly the first to take a pop at ‘The Notorious One’ for his demands but the former UFC ‘champ champ’ reminded Diaz how he could not win a belt that was specially designed just for him.

Colby Covington, the #1 ranked welterweight fighter in UFC, was the latest to give his views on McGregor and his demands for a new belt.

Covington has nothing good to say about Conor McGregor and his demand for a new UFC belt

‘Chaos’ was talking to The Schmo earlier this week and was asked if the idea of a special belt for the Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor trilogy was a good idea.

“How do you [Conor] think you deserve a belt when you haven’t won a fight in 3 or 4 years. The guy is completely done, he’s washed up. Con-man McGregor; he couldn’t even knock off that old dude off that stool. How is he gonna knockout Dustin Poirier or get some title belt?”

The Schmo then asked Covington if that was his prediction, to which he replied by saying that the fight will be in Poirier’s favour and it will be similar to the UFC 257 fight.

“It’s gonna be similar to the first one. I think we saw in the last fight that [Conor’s] head is not in the game anymore. But he made so much money, he did great for himself. He got the Floyd fight, he made a $100million, he’s got a big whiskey company going. So he’s not hungry, he doesn’t have that fire to wake up every single day like me.”

Whatever happens, it will be a big payday for McGregor. And belt or not, he would surely walk away with more than the $5million that he got after his UFC 257 win.
