The UFC 272 press conference marked the first time that Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal faced each other after their run in at UFC 241
One of the most enthusiastically anticipated UFC events this year was the UFC 272 press conference between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal. Many were eagerly waiting for the pair to chirp at each other, even more so than the actual fight.
And boy, did the press conference deliver! The entire event was filled with profane remarks and consequential allegations. The pair started going back and forth even before they got on stage- such is their level of abhorrence for each other.
Jorge walked on stage with a fancy looking briefcase, that had his own NFT collection, which is up for grabs now. Colby walked on stage pronouncing him as the ‘King of Miami’. While Masvidal poked fun at Colby’s payout that excludes PPV sales, Colby called out Jorge for his criminal and fraudulent ways. He even referred to him and ‘Phony Montana’, while he continued his verbal onslaught on Jorge’s marital situation. Masvidal’s rage hit the roof for a brief moment, as he got up to launch an attack on Colby.
Much was made about the build-up to this fight, and the press conference delivered to everyone’s expectations.
The pair would finally square off, with the world watching, and the stage lightened up with the flash and glare of a hundred cameras. Colby pranced on stage, with a high guard stance ready to throw down. While Jorge walked straight towards him, urging Dana to let them close. He even appeared to have attempted a kick at Covington, but nevertheless, the stage had immense security to cool things off.
The two will square up one more time before their actual fight on Saturday at the official weigh-ins, that will also mark the return of Joe Rogan.
