Conor McGregor spoke about his net worth after some comments from Eddie Alvarez

A lot has been said about Conor McGregor and his performance against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.

Some MMA legends have brought up McGregor’s technique while others have spoken about his lack of motivation.

Eddie Alvarez, a former UFC Lightweight Champion, shared his thoughts on the Irishman. Alvarez lost the title to McGregor at UFC 205 and he too believed it was a question of motivation.

The 37-year-old claimed that having a huge bank balance of $100m-$150m changes a person. Alvarez believed this wasn’t the same hungry McGregor from back in the day and he had nothing.

The former champion suggested that McGregor needed to harden himself and do more than what he was actually doing and that the money could have gotten to him.

That certainly was a decent point to make as many stars have suggested that a huge bank balance reduces some of the worries a fighter has.

A fighter with less money has more to prove in the Octagon, in most cases, as a loss could mean the end of their career or their contract.

That isn’t a problem for McGregor. He is one of the money makers for the UFC and he picks and chooses his fights too, according to Alvarez.

That didn’t sit well with the Irishman. One Twitter user commented that McGregor should be praised for continuing to fight even though he didn’t need to and the Irishman also brought up his net worth in a response:

“If you gave 99% of the roster a weeks wage of my net worth you’d never see them compete again.”

Conor McGregor increasing his net worth hand over fist

The Irishman is one of the top earners in the world of sport and some reports suggest his net worth is around $120m.

This is just an estimate but the Irishman has several deals in place. Recently, he also sold his stake in the Proper 12 Whiskey brand, something he created.

McGregor has also had sponsors from around the world and he is backed by some of the best in the business.

Not to forget, he rakes in millions whenever he fights. The Irishman giving away a million dollars to any fighter would change their lives and he isn’t wrong in saying most of them would retire if they were paid big.

However, McGregor is still fighting and going strong. He is to face Poirier for a third time and will be keen on making the score 2-1 in his favour.
