Conor McGregor set to pocket a huge profit after sale of his whiskey brand
UFC superstar Conor McGregor and his manager, Audie Attar, launched ‘Proper Twelve’ whiskey company back in 2018 before his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov.
A Mexican beverage company, ‘Becle’, assumed 20% stake in the company. They raised it 49% in 2020.
And now, a statement by them reveals that they are planning to increase their stake to 51%, which gives them majority control of the company.
“On February 23, 2021, the Company provided notice of the exercise of its call option to acquire 51 per cent of the equity interests of EBS. We expect to announce further details upon the closing of the transaction.”
The sale, as reported by Mirror, is expected to be around £110million, with a portion of it going to ‘The Notorious One’ for his stake in the company.
It has certainly turned out to be an amazing investment from the Irishman.
Money has never been a problem for McGregor in recent years. He pocketed more than £3.5million for just showing up against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.
And that is without his share of the PPV cut. He is expected to fight ‘The Diamond’ again.
UFC president Dana White has announced that the fight is in the works. While it may not be for the belt, you would think that it will have a big say in deciding who gets to have a shot at gold next.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is yet to take a decision on his UFC return. If the Russian chooses to retire, then the winner of the trilogy might well earn his place in any title fight that takes place in the future.
Both Poirier and McGregor have been UFC lightweight champions in the past and would undoubtedly be itching to get their hands again on the belt.
