UFC lightweight Conor McGregor topped the list in the recently released highest-earning athletes per minute in 2021

There is no doubt Conor McGregor made a ton of money in the year 2021. After a rather inactive 2020, McGregor fought twice in the year 2021.

He would have fought a fight or two more had he not been injured at UFC 264.

More recently, the Online Betting Guide released the list of Highest Earning Athletes Per Minute in 2021. The list saw McGregor sit right at the top.

The Irishman made a staggering $8.6 million per minute. He was followed by Mexican boxing champion Canelo Alvarez who made $444k per minute – a much smaller number compared to McGregor’s.

At number 3 was American Football star, Tom Brady. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback made $37k. He was followed by footballers – Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Neymar made $32k per minute and Ronaldo – $18k.

$8.6million per minute might be mindblowing, but given the meagre minutes McGregor spent inside the Octagon, it shouldn’t be a big surprise.

The Irishman was knocked out by Poirier in the second round during their fight at UFC 257. 6 months later McGregor lost the fight against Poirier once again – this time after the first round.

Nevertheless, McGregor has worked his way to become the highest earner in the sport.
