Conor McGregor breaks down damage caused after horrific Chris Weidman incident at UFC 261

Conor McGregor had his take on the horror injury suffered by Chris Weidman at UFC 261.

Chris Weidman had his leg broken just 17 seconds into his fight against Uriah Hall in the main card of UFC 261. The All American was left grimacing in pain, as the referee waved off the fight in no time.

You’ve got to feel sorry for Weidman, as he was coming into the fight brimming with confidence after beating Omari Akhmedov in his last fight.

With that freak victory, Uriah Hall became the first fighter in the history of the UFC to win a fight without throwing even a single strike.

Even more stunning was the eerie similarity Weidman’s injury had to Anderson Silva’s injury at UFC 168, when the Brazilian faced Weidman himself.

Wishes poured in for the American’s quick recovery, and recently ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor sent in his wishes for Weidman’s recovery while also providing valuable insights into his injury.

The Irishman claimed that calf kicks have always been crazy and could either way:

“Hoping Chris Weidman has full recovery! Never nice to see. Crazy is the calf kick. No skill, balance, or flexibility, or anything does it take. It’s like watching a punt of a pig skin in the 50s. Up the yard! Crazy how it can go either way. One great for you, or real bad against.”

Mystic Mac then gave his fighter’s view on the gruesome injury. The Irishman claimed that Weidman would have already been micro-fractures laden in his leg. He also sent a warning to be careful with the leg kicks.

“He had to have a load of micro fractures in the leg possibly for it snap then. The placement of the kick was nice enough. It wasn’t fully checked. He hit the meat. Enough of it anyway. Had to have been damaged over time without knowing. Wear and tear. Careful on them kicks lads!”

It is to be noted that, inability to check leg kicks was the primary reason McGregor lost to Poirier at UFC 257.

Anderson Silva wishes a speedy recovery for Chris Weidman

Chris Weidman is definitely one of Anderson Silva’s greatest on-field rivals. But that doesn’t take away the respect the Brazilian has for Weidman.

No sooner Weidman was stretchered off, than Silva took to his Instagram to post a long heartfelt message for Weidman’s speedy recovery.

He urged the fans to respect Weidman’s unfortunate moment and wish him a quick recovery.

Silva wrote:

“My deepest and most sincere sentiments champ. Have faith, I wish you a speedy recovery. In this moment I wish you and your family light, love and knowledge. To the fans of the sport, please respect this moment of this incredible warrior and let’s wish that he is 100% very recovered soon. May God bless you and your family @chrisweidman.”
