Conor McGregor is unfazed by his rival Dustin Poirier ahead of UFC 264
All eyes will be on Conor McGregor as he takes on Dustin Poirier in a trilogy fight in the main event of UFC 264. It is ‘make or break’ for the Irishman as he surely is having his back against the wall.
Having lost the rematch at UFC 257, McGregor is a changed man, going back to his usual ‘Notorious’ self. He has aimed several tweets at Poirier in a bid to get into his head like the way he did before UFC 178 back in September 2014.
With only a few days left for the fight, McGregor sent an ominous message to Poirier in an interview with Oscar Willis of THEMACLIFE. Calling Poirier a corpse, McGregor claimed that he would get battered, come the 10th of July.
The Irishman told THEMACLIFE when asked if he was viewing Poirier as an enemy:
“Yeah, for sure. Corpse. It’s a corpse… I don’t give a fu** about him, to be honest. It’s just how the way I am. He’s a corpse, a dead body, a blank face that’s gonna get his a** whooped and took out on a stretcher.”
Having been spotted at a hotel in Las Vegas cutting weight, former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos is expected to be the backup fighter for the trilogy fight between McGregor and Poirier.
The news was first reported by Damon Martin of MMA Fighting, although he stated that an official announcement hadn’t been made.
“Rafael Dos Anjos is in Las Vegas this week and he was seen at the fighter hotel cutting weight with his trainers. UFC never made any official announcement about a backup for McGregor vs. Poirier 3 but take that for what you will…”
