Ciryl Gane vs Francis Ngannou should happen soon and Conor McGregor was impressed by some facts coming out ahead of the fight

Conor McGregor has had his say on the similarities that Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane share.

Gane became the new interim Heavyweight champion in the UFC after dominating Derrick Lewis at UFC 265.

His next target should be the undisputed champion, Ngannou, and the Cameroon-French star responded to this battle with some kind words for his rival.

Ngannou believes that Gane is a real contender now, but the pair share more than just the French nationality.

Gane and Ngannou were training partners at one stage and even started their MMA journey in the same gym. This was brought up on Twitter and McGregor tweeted how all of this was interesting to him.

This isn’t the first time training partners have been at the top of their division. Gilbert Burns and Kamaru Usman had the same gym and it was Usman who kept the title when the pair met.

However, this might be a first with the undisputed and interim titles being shared between training partners at the same time.

Francis Ngannou has a real problem with Ciryl Gane

While Ngannou has been impressive in his journey to the top, Gane can also bring this story up.

The Frenchman is undefeated in his MMA career and dominated a powerful and dangerous Lewis throughout the clash.

Ngannou will have to be smart with how he takes Gane on. The Frenchman has some incredible movement and seems to be extremely quick, especially for the Heavyweight division.

Further, he has a ton of strength too, something he proved as he got the stoppage win over Lewis.

The fight between Ngannou and Gane might be a few months away as the Frenchman wants a bit of a break, but this is going to be an excellent clash when they do meet.
