Manny Pacquiao vs Conor McGregor looks unlikely after UFC 257 result

Poor Manny Pacquiao. He signed with Sports Paradigm Management, the company that manages the career of Conor McGregor, in hopes of having smooth negotiations over a potential bout between the two.

‘The Notorious One’ was expected to take on the Filipino boxer in a multi-million bout later this year. However, his loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 has raised a question mark over these plans.

Poirier wore McGregor down with leg kicks before finishing him off with a series of punches in the second round.

The fight was not for the title but held big implications for who gets a shot at the belt.

But his loss against ‘The Diamond’ has turned into a potential financial loss for Pacquiao. The fight, after all, was supposed to be an 8-figure affair.

This is according to a report by World Star Boxing (h/t Express). McGregor last fought inside the boxing ring all the way back in 2017.

Can Conor McGregor foray back into the boxing ring, this time against Manny Pacquiao?

Back then, he lost in a one-side fight against Floyd Mayweather. ‘Money’ and Pacquiao have, of course, themselves fought inside the ring before.

McGregor made a ton of money despite the loss to Mayweather and he could have been set for another boxing match.

However, the report has added that while the fight is unlikely, it is not totally off the cards. McGregor could be open to fighting against Pacquiao in the future.

Right now, however, his attention seems to be elsewhere. The Notorious One has been obsessed with making a third fight happen with Poirier.

Poirier and Dana White have both addressed it, with former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley even suggesting that it should be made into a title fight.

It is undoubtedly where the Irishman’s attention would lie right now. A UFC title fight would be great for McGregor, even after a loss, and White hinted that this could take place soon.
