Conor McGregor recently lost to Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 264
Conor McGregor was recently discharged from the hospital following foot surgery. The Irishman had his left ankle snapped towards the very end of the first round against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
The referee had no other choice but to wave off the fight awarding it to Poirier. ‘The Diamond’ won by TKO due to a doctor stoppage.
McGregor was taken straight to the hospital, where he was operated upon the next day. And now, he has been discharged from the hospital.
UFC President Dana White recently revealed that ‘The Notorious’ would probably return in a years time.
Fresh out of the hospital, McGregor posted several images from his healing process prior to the fight, since he had already injured his ankle, while also calling himself the greatest of all time.
McGregor wrote on Twitter:
“Wouldn’t change my journey for no ones! The greatest of all time!”
Conor McGregor blames it on multiple stress fractures for his loss at UFC 264
McGregor also went live on Instagram following his discharge from the hospital. He revealed that he had had multiple stress fractures in his leg even before he went into the fight.
The Irishman also explained that his ankle was also troublesome for quite a long time.
“I had stress fractures in my leg going into that cage. It was debated about pulling the thing out…I had multiple stress fractures in the shin bone, above the ankle. And I had troubles with the ankle anyway, throughout the years of fighting all the time.”
McGregor was also handed a 6-month medical suspension, just like he was handed the previous time, following his loss to Poirier at UFC 257.
