Conor McGregor appeared to have contracted a staph infection in his recent Instagram post
Conor McGregor has been sweating it out ahead of his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The pair will be headlining UFC 264 which is set to take place next weekend on the 10th of July in Las Vegas.
Following his defeat to Poirier in the last meeting at UFC 257, which was also his first-ever knockout loss, McGregor has been taking training more seriously than ever in a bid to settle the scores in his rivalry with Poirier.
The rivalry scoreline currently reads 1-1, with the winner of the fight presented with a chance of legacy and a title shot against the newly-crowned lightweight champion Charles Oliveira.
With the fight inching closer, McGregor took to Instagram to share a photo of himself on his bike. On closer inspection, there was a red spot near his left elbow which triggered rumors of a possible staph infection. Fans were left worried that it might put his fight in jeopardy.
Conor McGregor responds to ‘staph infection’ concerns
McGregor cleared the air on the speculation surrounding his red spot. One concerned fan asked McGregor on Twitter – “Conor please tell me you don’t have a staph infection.”
McGregor replied that it wasn’t a staph infection and the redness was due to vicious elbows.
His reply read:
“No. Just vicious brain damaging elbows.”
With just a week left to go, McGregor has become very much active on social media, also firing shots at Poirier. Going by the look of things, it seems like ‘The Trash-talking’ and brash Conor McGregor is back!
