Conor McGregor posted an uproarious quote on Instagram about people considering him a celebrity.
McGregor has been actively training for his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier on the 10th of July at UFC 264. The pair will fight it out in front of a packed crowd of 20800 fans at the T-Mobile Arena in Vegas.
The Irishman returned to the UFC at UFC 257 after announcing his retirement in January 2020. He took on Dustin Poirier, wherein at the pre-fight press conference, he looked nothing like the ‘Notorious’ version of himself.
There were no antics, trash-talking, drama, as he remained quiet, humble, and respectful towards Poirier during the entire course of the fight week.
However, once McGregor lost he took to Instagram to share the news that he would never be Mr.Humble again and that he was back to being his original self.
It was further fueled due to Poirier’s recent charity accusations, as well. And, since then McGregor has been posting videos, photos, quotes with ‘Notorious’-esque captions.
More recently, he posted a throwback quote of his from a GQ interview with Scott Cohen, way back in 2016. The hilarious quote read:
“People think I’m a celebrity. I’m not a celebrity. I break people’s faces for money and bounce.”
Well and truly back to being his old ‘Notorious’ self.
He further goes on to say in that interview of his, about how most of the young men in Ireland wanted to look like him.
He exclaimed back then:
“They all want to be me a little. That’s a Drake line. All them boys want to be me a little. And it’s true as fuck.”
McGregor was knocked out for the first time in his glorious MMA career, at the hands of Poirier at UFC 257. He came into the fight in brilliant shape and with extreme confidence.
However, his inability to check ‘The Diamond’s’ calf kicks affected his mobility and he ended up being TKOed in only the second round.
Miesha Tate who makes a return to the UFC after a huge gap of 5 years, recently revealed what went wrong for the Irishman at UFC 257. In an interview with Helen Yee, she said:
“Everybody can make mistakes. I think he did get too (much) into the boxing, you know? You can not perfect both. You can’t be perfect in both. When you fight Dustin, you’ve got to be perfect and I think he had just gotten a little too distracted by the money in boxing.”
