Conor McGregor is planning to return to full action by April, next year
Conor McGregor suffered a brutal ankle injury during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
The Irishman’s ankle snapped towards the end of the first round, and eventually saw him lose the fight via. TKO (due to doctor stoppage).
He underwent surgery the very next day and has been recovering ever since. McGregor was also slapped with a six-month medical suspension that night.
In a recent Twitter Q & A, McGregor was asked about the date of his return.
The Irishman confirmed that he would be back to full MMA sparring by April next year, with an imminent return lined up after that.
His Tweet read:
“I will be full mixed martial arts sparring by April. Easily! By then a return will be imminent. But I must be patient. I will beat this!“
Conor McGregor lauds Michael Chandler
Conor McGregor also had words of praise for fellow UFC lightweight Michael Chandler. During the Twitter Q & A session, McGregor was asked about his opinion on Chandler.
Claiming that he might have even been the champion by now, ‘The Notorious’ wrote:
“Hard not to be impressed. In a game of inches he has been incredibly close each time! Could well be today’s champion.”
Chandler and McGregor have been having a friendly and respectful back and forth on Twitter in recent times. It started off with Chandler posting an edited image of himself staring down McGregor.
