Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier are set to face-off on the 10th of July in a trilogy bout

Revenge will be on the mind of Conor McGregor when he takes on Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 264. He will be looking forward to getting back on top in their seven-year rivalry.

After beating Poirier via. knockout in the very first round at UFC 178 in September 2014, McGregor faced Poirier almost seven years later at UFC 257 in January 2021.

This time it was the Irishman’s turn to get knocked out, as he was beaten by a flurry of punches in the second round.

This set the stage for an immediate rematch, which was made official a few months later.

In a recent interview with Fox Sports, McGregor fired a stern warning to Poirier. He revealed that he had been training “very very” hard and has been in great condition. The Irishman sounded really confident.

“All the marbles are on the line. I’m here training very, very hard. I’m about to go for my second session of the day. I’m in great condition already. I beat him [Poirier] in the original bout [in 2014]. I lost in the rematch. And then we’ve got the trilogy, I’ve got a few little adjustments to make. I feel very, very confident. I’m very focused and driven. And I’ll go in there and put on one hell of a performance and get it back on July 10th.” [via GiveMeSport]

Colby Covington tears into Dustin Poirier

Colby Covington recently tore into Dustin Poirier, while calling him out for a fight. In an interview with Submission Radio, ‘The Chaos’ claimed that he would love to fight

‘The Diamond’ but feared that the fight might not happen since he felt that Poirier was scared.

Covington was quoted as saying:

“I would love to give that fight to the fans…If it doesn’t happen, it will be because Dustin’s scared and he doesn’t want to sign the dotted line. And that would be just as much of a victory, because everybody will know how much of a man I am and how much of a b*tch he is.”
