Conor McGregor was set to take on Al Foran in a wheelchair boxing match

Conor McGregor who has been recovering from ankle surgery following a leg break at UFC 264, was recently booked to face popular impressionist Al Foran in a charity wheelchair boxing match.

The match was set to take place on the 11th of September at the Clayton Hotel in Galway, Ireland.

Given the fact that McGregor hasn’t healed fully, the match has now been postponed to a further date. Marc Raimondi of ESPN was the first to break the news, after McGregor’s spokesperson Karen Kessler told the same to ESPN.

It was also reported that McGregor would fully support the Irish Wheelchair Association that would be hosting the event.

The Tweet from Raimondi read:

“Conor McGregor will not be competing in a wheelchair boxing match for charity in September despite recent reports, his spokesperson Karen Kessler told ESPN. He is still healing from the broken leg he suffered at UFC 264.”

McGregor himself took to Twitter to confirm that September would be too early for him since he was still in recovery. He also revealed a possible date – October to December. However, he assured that he would take part in the wheelchair boxing match.

‘Mystic Mac’ wrote:

“Guys, the September date is too early for me. I am still in recovery. My docs/physical therapy team out here advice me to stay. I reckon late October at earliest. But maybe November/December too. It is hard to say at this time a concrete date. But I’m in! Wait for me please!”
