Kayla Harrison and her recent exploits in MMA has veteran women’s fighter Cris Cyborg intrigued
Kayla Harrison has been on a roll since making her professional MMA debut. The 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, Women’s Judo Gold Medalist, made her debut just 3 years ago.
She is already 9-0 up in her MMA career, plying her trade predominantly in the PFL (Professional Fighters League).
She is the PFL women’s lightweight champion, and her recent successful title defense against Mariana Morais exemplified her superior skillset. Harrison won the fight via. first-round TKO.
Harrison’s PFL contract is set to expire this year, and talks of her joining the Bellator have been rife.
Elsewhere, Cris Cyborg, who would have been called the Women’s GOAT had she not lost to Amanda Nunes at UFC 232, weighed in on fighting Harrison in the future.
Cyborg is currently the Bellator Women’s Featherweight World Champion. In an interview with Ariel Helwani of ESPN MMA, she revealed that Harrison joining Bellator would be amazing, but she hoped that the Judoka finished the year with a title.
Cyborg said:
“It’s gonna be amazing. Let’s see if she finishes the year with a title. I can go up to 155, fight her
With hardly a year left in Harrison’s PFL contract, the American moving to an even better promotion is imminent.
Later in the interview Cyborg stated that she would surely fight Harrison if she ever joined the Bellator.
Cyborg told Helwani:
“Yeah maybe, you know? Maybe. If she is gonna be in the Bellator for sure, we can make this fight happen.”
Cyborg has been on an impressive three-fight win streak since her lost against Amanda Nunes at UFC 232, and knocking her out is an out-of-the-world task unless you’re the ‘Lioness’.
