Cris Cyborg posted a reply on Jon Jones’ Twitter feed, in support of the struggling UFC Heavyweight

Jon Jones has been struggling to make his UFC heavyweight debut, ever since moving up to it, almost 9 months ago. The light-heavyweight GOAT has got himself involved in a payment dispute with UFC President Dana White, which has put his HW future in dire straits.

He will become 34 soon, and has been wasting his prime years.

However, in his latest tweet, he has revealed that he would be retaining his advisor Richard Schaefer in a bid to pursue greatness and cement his name among the elites.

His statement read:

“I have retained Richard Schaefer as my advisor. Richard has been in the combat space for over 20 years and has put together some of the biggest global pay per view events over that period. The likes of Mayweather, De La Hoya, Canelo, Hopkins, Barrera, and Marquez have headlined the exciting events that Richard has promoted and produced.”

The statement also explained the knowledge and experience Schaefer would be bringing:

“His knowledge and experience of the Pay Per View industry and combat sports are second to none. I am excited to embark on his next chapter of my career as I continue to cement my place in history as one of the greats with Richard as my advisor. I can’t wait to give my fans and the sport the fights they want to see.”

No sooner did Jones post this statement, than Bellator Women’s Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg chimed in. She posted a tweet in support of Jones, bringing up the Muhammad Ali Act.

The Muhammad Ali Act is currently only applicable to Boxers, and not for any other combat sports athletes. It is meant to protect the fighters’ welfare and interests, so that they are not held up contracts or deals that tie them to a particular organization.

Cyborg tweeted:

“We need the Muhammad Ali Act to protect fighters in mixed martial arts like it does in boxing unfortunately long term contracts are killing fighters opportunities to make money.”

Jon Jones had mentioned only yesterday that he would not be fighting this year

Jon Jones, divulged yesterday that he feared being out of action for another year. In a recent twitter interaction with the fans, a worried ‘Bones’ wrote:

“Yes, I got a feeling you guys will still be around. The sport should be bigger than ever by then…Always looking on the bright side.”

If Jones breaks his ‘ego-shackles’ and meets up with Dana White, he could very well get this mess sorted out. It is up to him to do that, since White claimed that the UFC would be moving on without Jones.
