Curtis Blaydes couldn’t see much from his right eye after a brutal knee from Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC 266

The second fight of the UFC 266 main card featured two big hitters in Curtis Blaydes and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

Blaydes was coming off a huge loss to Derrick Lewis while Rozenstruik had defeated Augusto Sakai in his previous outing.

The expectations were huge from this clash but the fight was a bit of a dampener. Blaydes and Rozenstruik tried to tactically outdo each other, and there were some boos from the fans at UFC 266.

There were a few takedowns too but the real talking point was the condition of Blaydes’ right eye in the second round.

Blaydes went for another takedown and was hit hard by a knee of Rozenstruik. Many thought that Rozenstruik would try to finish the fight off, however, Blaydes countered with a takedown.

Curtis Blaydes eye is shut

The commentary team were quick to highlight that Blaydes couldn’t see much from his eye and brought up an earlier fight that featured the Heavyweight.

This was his first clash against Francis Ngannou and the fight was stopped via doctor’s stoppage since one of Blaydes’ eyes were shut.

The commentators also said that if the fight continued beyond the third round, the fight could have been stopped but for Blaydes, the fight only was for three rounds.

Blaydes got the win in the end and confirmed he had trouble seeing from the eye in the third round. Daniel Cormier also asked about who he wanted to fight next and Blaydes had several fighters on his mind.

Hopefully, the eye wasn’t a big deal for him and he can return to action soon.
