Aljamain Sterling hit out at the UFC and Dana White over who should fight new champion Petr Yan
UFC Bantamweight star Aljamain Sterling was upset with Dana White as the president couldn’t confirm who Petr Yan would face next.
Yan defeated Jose Aldo to win the vacant Bantamweight title at UFC 251 with a dominant display. The Russian also highlighted that a fight against Sterling would be next for him, however, that isn’t something that White has on his mind.
Sterling, for his part, has been excellent over the past two years in the UFC. He picked up an incredible win over Cory Sandhagen and has won his last five fights.
While some suggested that Sterling vs Sandhagen should have been for the vacant title, the Funk Master posted about this situation on Twitter.
1000%!!! Sandhagen has a BETTER resume than Yan, and I finished the fight early! What tf else do I need to do?! Seriously starting feel like I’m the most hated guy by the UFC brass. Wtf did I go wrong? Must be that I’m good at grappling just like the 155 lb king. Makes sense 🙄 https://t.co/2qoKZiAnY6

However, his responses after the Yan fight certainly led to shots being fired at White.
White doesn’t know
While White was coy on who Yan would take on, Damon Martin, an MMA reporter claimed that Yan vs Sterling would be great.
The Funk Master caught hold of this tweet and took a shot at White:
“According to Dana, he doesn’t “know yet”. He can’t think past Wednesday, but knows Burns is next. Like what?!”
Sterling also praised Yan for his comments on who should be facing him next. The Funk Master congratulated Yan on the victory and claimed their clash would be one for the books:
“At least Yan knows who the next contender should be! Enjoy it champ. Well earned against a future Hall of Famer. Our fight will be one for the history books!”
Sterling then pinned the next tweet on his page and told White to stop playing games:
“There is NOTHING to THINK about @danawhite! I am the next guy in line! I earned my shot and it’s time for me to realize a dream! Cut the games!”
Sterling does deserve a shot at the title and it is a little weird why White isn’t willing to set up this fight.
There aren’t too many top contenders in the Bantamweight division at the moment, apart from Cody Garbrandt.
However, Garbrandt is ranked fourth in the Bantamweight division and is below Yan and Sterling.
The only person above Sterling in the rankings is Marlon Moraes, and it was Moraes who defeated Sterling last.
