Cynthia Calvillo claimed Jessica Eye was way beyond the 126 pound limit for Flyweights

Ariel Helwani brought in Cynthia Calvillo on his MMA show after her impressive win over Jessica Eye.

Calvillo won via a unanimous decision after going five rounds against Eye, however, there was a lot of controversy before that fight.

Eye missed her weight for the clash and she needed help standing up during the weigh-ins. The UFC veteran added that she was just 0.25 pounds above the weight limit. However, many stars claimed she was a few pounds overweight.

Helwani asked Calvillo to clear up this situation as she had claimed Eye missed weight by four pounds.

Calvillo claimed that Eye’s coach messaged her manager in the morning saying that her rival would miss weight.

“She was at 129 and she was having a hard time to cut past that.”

However, Calvillo claimed this wasn’t that big a deal about her rival missing weight. But she wasn’t pleased with what happened later on at the scale:

“It was a big deal when you go on the scale and you show 30 minutes later and you are magically 126.2 and not 129.6. That’s taking money out of my pocket, that’s the difference between 20% and 30%.

“When I missed weight, I paid my dues. I didn’t hold a towel to take extra pounds off. You know it would be one thing if she kind of sucked it up but she was boasting about it. There was no way she could have cut so much weight.”

Weird from Eye

Calvillo also was upset that Eye was almost glad that she was just 0.25 pounds off, and added that all of “it was really weird.”

The 32-year-old added that the weight difference was brought up before the fight too as stars are weighed before entering the Octagon.

Nevertheless, Calvillo was pleased with the win and claimed she wouldn’t mind facing Valentina Shevchenko given the quality of talent in the division.

Shevchenko is one of the greatest MMA stars of all time and the current Flyweight champion. She has to face Joanne Calderwood next, but Calvillo already holds a win over Calderwood.

Shevchenko vs Calderwood was set for UFC 251 before the champion withdrew due to a leg injury.
