Dan Hooker has spoken about the power and ‘I call the shots’ attitude Conor McGregor brings to the table, as he threatens to cancel the fight with Dustin Poirier.
The McGregor-Poirier fight has been the talk of the UFC world of late. The pair have been having a go at each other on Twitter, with McGregor threatening to cancel the fight. In fact, he did say on Twitter recently that he would be fighting someone else.
It all started when Poirier accused McGregor and his team of not paying the agreed amount of $500,000 to his ‘Good Fight Foundation’.
This didn’t sit well with the Irishman, as he immediately took to Twitter, going on a foul-mouthed rant before threatening to cancel the fight.
In the wake of this, number 8 ranked lightweight Dan Hooker sat down with Submission Radio, wherein he discussed about the McGregor-Poirier trilogy fight conundrum.
The Kiwi believed that the fight would still go on, while also acknowledging McGregor’s ‘playing the pied piper’ attitude.
Hooker was quoted as saying:
“I feel like their fight is gonna go through. I feel like he is still gonna fight Dustin. I’m highly confident that their fight still goes ahead and we don’t end up in that situation. It’s more of him (Conor) just showing the power that he does have, even though the contract is signed, even though everything is set, he can still say, ‘I’m not, just not going to show up’.”
Just when fight fans feared that the trilogy bout between McGregor and Poirier would fall through, UFC President Dana White put an end to all those fears. The Bossman confirmed that the fight was on, with a full house at Vegas on the 10th of July.
White further revealed that the tickets sale will begin next week, with a whopping 20000 fans set to attend the event. The tickets can be availed online at AWS.com.
With a bit of blood between McGregor and Poirier, one can expect a cracker of a contest.
