Dan Hooker has his say on the Jake Paul vs Ben Askren
Earlier this week, Jake Paul vs Ben Askren reached a verbal agreement as ‘Funky’ took to his Twitter account to accept the invite.
Askren, a former UFC welterweight, even set out a potential date for the date as he wrote “Yes @jakepaul I accept. See you March 28.”
Paul has been hell-bent to land a fight with the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor ever since the American knocked out Nate Robinson. While he did not get any attention from the Irishman, he managed to get himself a potential opponent in Askren.
The fight, while not yet official, has garnered a lot of attention in the media. This would be the first that Jake Paul faces a professional MMA fighter.
Jake Paul, a 23-year-old YouTuber-turned-professional boxer, has a 2-0 record but is yet to face a seasoned MMA fighter.
Let’s just say boxing isn’t one of Ben Askren’s strengths. Askren retired in November 2019 after back-to-back losses against Demian Maia and Jorge Masvidal, the latter knocking him out in 5 seconds at UFC 239.
A lot of fans fear the worst for Askren as they believe that he may well end up losing against the YouTuber. And now, Dan ‘Hangman’ Hooker has joined the bandwagon.
The New Zealander shared a tweet which said that Jake Paul is the safest bet in the fight, and seemed to “100%” agree with it.
Ben Askren vs Jake Paul, while not the best spectacle for a professional Boxing match, would still make for a great showing. The fight may not be as easy for Askren as some people expect it to be, Dan Hooker excluded.
