Dan Hooker was not impressed with the New Zealand justice system over Fau Vake’s death
Dan Hooker slammed the New Zealand justice system after Daniel Havili was sentenced for manslaughter.
Havili was the one identified to have hit rising MMA star Fau Vake in 2021. Vake passed away in May 2021 and he was part of the same gym where Hooker and UFC Middleweight Champion, Israel Adesanya, train.
Hooker and Adesanya were both upset over what had transpired regarding the assault, and The Hangman blasted several parties after the latest sentence.
Reports confirmed that Havili would only be sentenced to two years and nine months in jail for manslaughter. Hooker didn’t take to this lightly and set off several tweets.
There was another shocking tweet from Hooker which claimed that the attacker could have spent his entire sentence at home. However, because of the media attention regarding the incident, Havili would be going to jail.
Hooker kept on tweeting and blasted the New Zealand justice system before claiming that killing someone with one punch won’t lead to a serious sentence.
The UFC star has had a tough time of late in the Octagon. The Kiwi has lost three of his last four fights and his last outing was a return to Featherweight.
Arnold Allen was Hooker’s opponent and the Kiwi lost the fight via TKO in the first round itself. There was a time that Hooker was considered a challenger for the Lightweight title. However, these losses have hurt his chances of returning to the title scene.
Hooker still is one of the best in the business but he needs a win quickly or he might fade away soon.
