Dan Hooker shared his prediction since a fight between top-ranked lightweights Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje has been looming large, of late
Michael Chandler came inches close to winning the lightweight title at UFC 262. He had Charles Oliveira knocked down in the very first round, but was not able to deliver the killer blow.
The fight went into the second round, and just 19 seconds into the round, Chandler was knocked out by Oliveira.
The loss hasn’t affected Chandler’s position and status in the lightweight division. He has expressed his desire to take on number 2 ranked Justin Gaethje and finish him for good.
Speaking about Chandler vs Gaethje, ‘Iron Mike’s first UFC opponent Dan Hooker, shared his thoughts on the fight.
The Kiwi speaking in an interview with Submission Radio, claimed that it would be an uphill task for Chandler to beat Gaethje, since he was one of Chandler’s worst matchups, stylistically.
“I feel like him and Gaethje, I feel like stylistically that’s a terrible fight for Chandler. Gaethje has the perfect style to tear him apart.”
Dan Hooker opens up on a rematch with Michael Chandler
Dan Hooker welcomed Michael Chandler to the UFC at UFC 257. The Kiwi however, didn’t last long against the explosive Bellator legend, getting knocked out in the first round.
Hooker spoke about a possibility of a rematch with Chandler in the interview with Submission Radio. The Hangman claimed that he would love a rematch with ‘Iron Mike’, although he felt that it wouldn’t happen.
“Yeah I would love that fight. But rematches don’t…It’s not like I’m gonna hold my breath for it. It’s not something that I feel like it is gonna happen.”
