Number 8 ranked lightweight contender Dan ‘The Hangman’ Hooker has confirmed when he would like to fight next.
Dan Hooker had a dismal fight in his last outing. He took on UFC newcomer Michael Chandler at UFC 257 in January 2020, in a match that many fight fans expected the Kiwi to win.
Despite going into the fight as the favourite, Hooker succumbed to a first round KO loss following a flurry of punches from ‘Iron’ Mike.
After a hectic quarantine schedule in his home country New Zealand he reunited with his family after almost a month, and now, further down the line he wants to get back to the octagon.
With the other top-ranked lightweights barring a few already booked for a fight, Hooker hasn’t found or even called out an opponent. In the wake of this, he has decided to call out anyone who might be available, also mentioning when he would like to return.
Hooker tweeted:
Rafael dos Anjos a possible opponent for Dan Hooker
Of the top 8 lightweights in the UFC, Justin Gaethje ranked number 2 and Rafael dos Anjos ranked number 7, are without an opponent. The chances of Hooker taking on Gaethje are very slim, since he is much higher in the lightweight ladder.
Hence dos Anjos seems to be a possible opponent. The Brazilian recently made a winning return to the UFC, against Paul Felder in November 2020.
And, Hooker too recently expressed his desire to fight RDA in a recent interview with Submission Radio.
He said:
鈥淲hen it comes to fights that make sense, I like the RDA fight. Former champ. I respect his skill set and I respect the way he carries himself. I think that鈥檚 a fight that makes sense.” [via Empire Sports Media]
